anyone know how much buckskin/deerskin I would need to make a traditional native american dress?
I need to know about how many square feet of deerskin I would need to make my regalia (native american dress). I'm 4ft 10 inches, and I want fringe on the dress. I'm making my own pattern but I don't know how much hide I need to buy.
thanks for the advice
I guess I should have added my size, 38 DD, 33 inch hips and 29 inch waist.
You need three.. deerskins..attach the neck part to the other neck part sew the sides to the arm pits your.. then you decide from below the kneee where to start fringing.. I have mine made already..IM 5'4" and I used three skinsbut the two put together I added the third as extra fringe on the arm and leggings... the fourth piece went to my knife sheat..and belt.and other bags for the belt attachments... I laid on a long sheet of brown paper the rolled kind.and stretched out my arms straight acroos traced witgh pencil to the length you want for ur dress..theres your patternn..all our dresses are made like a T..
