Determine the focal length of the lens.?
The nickel's image in the figure below has four times the diameter of the nickel when the lens is 2.65 cm from the nickel. Determine the focal length of the lens.
Any help would be appreciated.
The magnification is 4 so we can use:
m=di/do
4=di/2.65
di=10.6
Then we use:
1/f = 1/di + 1/do
1/f = 1/10.6 + 1/2.65
f = 2.12
