How much does a 1881 bible, along with 1661 translation, cost if in fair condition?
With beautiful imprinted leather cover, I found this bible in my basement along with 6 tintype pictures, from the 1880s. What is its value?
The tintype pictures may have some value, especially if you have any written material telling about the people, date, location, circumstances when the pictures were taken. Some people will buy tintypes just for the novelty, even without documentation. Check eBay or antique stores. If these are family pictures, be sure to clear it with your parents and perhaps offer the pictures to other family members before selling outside.
Bibles are so numerous that used ones are seldom of any value beyond the sentimental value the family places on them. Or the satisfaction a person gets from reading them or looking up passages.
If a Bible has illustrations, maps, a gazeteer, that makes them more useful.
If your Bible has a section where family births, deaths, marriages etc. were recorded those notes should be kept or turned over to the family historian and keeper of treasures.
If you check with an antique book seller or look online you might be able to find out if the 1661 translation has any value. When was it printed?
